This is a picture of some of my favorite people. We are together almost everyday! A few of them are graduating and will no longer be on the team, but we will still remain friends. This is just a glimpse into my life as a track runner at GSU.
FUN TIMES!
Posted in PERSONAL on May 1, 2009 by lynndseyA 70′S SHOW!
Posted in PR CONNECTIONS on May 1, 2009 by lynndseyThis week in class we enjoyed watching “WKRP in Cincinnati”: “Turkeys Away.” a TV show that was around in the 70’s. To my surprise I actually enjoyed it! It did take me a short time to fully understand what was going on…but none the less I really enjoyed it. It focused on the value of communication in a great way. I asked my mom if she had ever watched the show and she said she watched it all the time! Some parts of the show surprised me, for example the raw humor. I was surprised at some of the things they were saying but I’m sure if they were watching today’s T.V they would be surprised just as much. The most hilarious part in the show was when Mr. Carlson dropped the turkeys out of the air!!! I almost laughed so hard I cried when he said that he did not know that turkeys couldn’t fly! All in all I appreciated the clip!
P.R PROBLEM!!
Posted in PR CONNECTIONS on May 1, 2009 by lynndseyIn class we had the opportunity to watch a few Domino’s employees ruin their career. This video was very much disturbing; I for one probably won’t eat there EVER again. Some people weren’t that bothered by it, they felt as though this type of issue is not that common. In class many were so very surprised that Domino’s had not addressed the issue just yet, and that led to us thinking that they were really not connected to what is going on in their business. I did get a chance to view Domino’s response and I think it was an “ok” job, but it would have been more sincere if he had not been reading from his teleprompter. I doubt this hurt their business too much but this would have been a great time for other pizza places to increase their advertising.
Electronic Friendship Generator Etiquette
Posted in RESPONSES on April 23, 2009 by lynndseyI finally saw the video Electronic Friendship Generator Etiquette it was soooooo very funny!! I played it at least three times; it was even funnier because every bit of it was so very true in so many cases I’ve seen. It’s amazing how much people spend their real lives talking to others online and making relationships and friendships, when they could spend just as much time out in the real worked instead of getting mixed signals online. I’ve seen many peoples profiles disappear after unneeded drama has stirred up over statuses or newly added friends! This video was very much appreciated.
GSU track and field
Posted in RESPONSES on April 23, 2009 by lynndseySOOO…im venting now. Im very unhappy with the way the Lady Eagles are put into the media!..its almost… Non-existent! This makes me very mad considering we are a very good team and we have so many hard workers that get no recognition! Even our own media guide left out about 5 players. This is so very unacceptable, and disappointing. This is a big issue to me because it discourages so many of my teammates who need that extra encouragement! Track and field is a very intense sport and I think we should get so much more publicity than we do. I feel as though I may loose my mind if another student at GSU asks me if there is a tack team here. I KNOW that there is something that can be done, after all everyone knows that there is a football, and basketball team here…why does no one know that there is a track team? Very discouraging. That is all.

*PSA’s are advertisements that are placed on the radio free of charge. Such issues dealing with health or upcoming civic events are some issues that they may talk about.
*Television stations usually use VNR, which are expensive but they are easy to use and edit. They are preferred because they have the ability to reach a bigger market.
* It is common knowledge that Public relations practitioners should be aware of the benefits that come with utilizing Web news sites. These are some of the quickest ways for reaching an audience and making them aware of certain issues.
* When it comes to making public appearances Public relations practitioners should choose a person with good personality, knowledge, and good speaking skills to be on television shows and radio.

*Public relations practitioners have to have the ability to understand that audiences are generational and that they all will have interests, values, and needs that they want to be met. P.R. personnel need to understand Generation X, Y, as well as the baby boomers.
*By the year 2050 Hispanics will be about 25 percent of the population. Public relations practitioners have to understand the different cultural values that are present when it comes to different cultural values. This is also true when it comes to religion.
* Public relations practitioners also need to understand that television and radio is what reaches most people, so they need to understand how they can reach there audiences in those areas of media. They need to know which is best and which media to use for which types of retention.
* Public relations practitioners also have to be aware of the gay and lesbian community if they intend on reaching even more people. They should know how to begin using gay and or lesbian spokespersons to influence their opinions on certain products.
48 Hours!
Posted in ASSIGNMENTS on April 22, 2009 by lynndseyHey guys! You can find me on Twitter at http://twitter.com/lynndseygsu
This week I started utilizing Twitter once again, this time around I noticed a few more “cool” things on the site. I first realized that the Megan McCain I was following was the real one! Here is her name: McCainBlogette. I think everyone on Twitter should follow her, I learned a lot about her and her family just by reading her tweets! I have a whole new outlook on her because of Twitter. Secondly I found many different musical artists and athletes that I am very interested in. I also noticed that I was being followed by other people who were not in my class! Once I realized this I felt kind of cool J it seemed as if others found me interesting enough to follow. Im also following DellOutletUK I found them to be very interesting, they always had links to new computers and sale offers. I think many of you all will find them very useful, they seem to have a lot to offer. Some things I would like to know more about have to deal with the names people are using on this site. I want to know if someone were to have the name of a certain company, and that particular company gets on this site, will the user be forced to give up their name to the company? I think it may cause a few issues in the near future if so. Another person I’ve chosen to follow is ObamaNews, this is not someone who is affiliated with the White House, he only brings his followers news, but I find him to be very interesting because he updates are very accurate concerning the President and the new White House decisions.
Top Ten!
Posted in ASSIGNMENTS on April 17, 2009 by lynndseyIn my Introductions to Public Relations class I learned quite a few things, some of them are:
1) Exactly how my resume should look and its purpose.
2) I learned how to use social networking sites in ways to help my career.
3) I found out that once something like a video, blog, social networking site, or personal page is created online that it will always be there even after one deletes it.
4) I learned that disasters such as the one Domino’s is dealing with, can be a great opportunity for a public relations firm to step in and fix the issue.
5) I was also educated on Hendrix, the first African American to use public relations.
6) I found out that Edward Bourne is considered the father of public relations.
7) We also talked about the different types of stereotypes that are associated with public relations. Some words were: Master manipulators, deceivers, smooth talkers, clever, and unethical.
We learned about R.A.C.E, which mean Research, Action, Communication, and Evaluation.
9) I learned that a few things persons in public relations should know how to do is; adapt to changes quickly, have good writing and researching skills, and be good at asking questions.
10) We also learned the different ways to engage in a communication audit, which enables us to find out if the public that we are trying to reach is actually being reached.
My own thoughts!
